Our client, the representatives of the newly formed government, contacted Qfactor, requesting support for an extremely ambitious short time frame project (9 months) for the retro fit of a trans-shipment facility that had been out of commission for 25 years. As the plant had been laying without maintenance for 25 years during the Civil War, Qfactor’s team completed a Structural, Mechanical, Electrical assessment and developed a project execution plan to upgrade the machine onsite, some 4000km from our home base in Johannesburg.
A critical factor in the re-in-statement of the transshipment facility was the site specific design criteria. Qfactor lead the team through the custom design, fabrication, erection and commissioning of the machine in record time, staying 3% under budget and with all key metrics including stated quality results were met… first time!
The facility was able to ship its first ore within 26 days of first arriving on site to execute the works, selling the material (haematite Iron ore) to a European buyer and kick start the iron ore industry in Seirra Leone.
