I have seen these common threads throughout my 30 years of investing, first observed in the early days of digital television, the market initially treated video data as a simple sequence of static images, similacasting video and audio for the one &#8216;program&#8217;, then came the embedded use case of &#8216;multi-casting&#8217; and &#8216;streaming&#8217;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the early stages, the market failed to price in the &#8216;multicast&#8217; opportunity. More importantly, and burried deep in the technology, was that they did not realize that moving from a single standard frame (~100 KB) to a continuous stream of 30 or 60 frames per second exploded data requirements exponentially to megabits per second. Later in this post you will appreciate why this is important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Similarly, within the world of robotics, first observed in the mining automation, the market initially treated automation as a &#8216;sensors&#8217; play, selling just another widget, then came the business models of Reliablity Centred Maintenance, Predictive Analytics and performance contracts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the early stages, the market failed to price the &#8216;intelligence opportunity&#8217; aka burried deep in the technology, was the fact that data, analysed systematically, could drive Predictive Analytics and performance contracts pushing more of the risk\/reward onto the automation supplier, to create Win-Win-Win solutions to the market. ie. if the automation is optimised, the machines run with less downtime, throughput is maximised, mines revenue is maximised, the automation supplier has created the environment, all parties win. Later in this post you will appreciate why this is important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, the global investment community is making the exact same error with Artificial Intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The current market narrative is completely obsessed with <strong>Large Language Models (LLMs), text-based reasoning, and conversational chatbots.<\/strong> Wall Street looks at the billions being spent on data centers and asks, <em>&#8220;How many text queries do we need to process to justify this CapEx?&#8221;<\/em> They are looking through a narrow, one-dimensional lens. The next 10 to 20 years of AI infrastructure won&#8217;t be defined by text tokens. We are on the precipice of a structural, order-of-magnitude shift toward <strong>high-density video generation, spatial computing, real-world digital twins, and multi-physics engineering simulations.<\/strong> As these workloads scale and compound year-over-year, the traditional cloud infrastructure will face a reckoning. The Physics Shift: Memory-Bound Text vs. Compute-Bound Video<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To understand why datacenter demand will quadruple year-over-year, we have to look at how data utilizes a microchip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Text inference is fundamentally <strong>memory-bound<\/strong>. When you type a prompt into an LLM, the GPU spend a massive amount of time waiting for model weights to load from high-bandwidth memory into its cache. Because the chip\u2019s mathematical units are idling during this wait, data centers can &#8220;batch&#8221; dozens of different users&#8217; text requests simultaneously onto a single GPU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Video is entirely different.
