What ultimately shifted my view in 2025 wasn\u2019t a single quarterly result or a marketing narrative\u2014it was a systems-level realisation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tesla isn\u2019t a car company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s a vertically integrated energy systems company, using transport as the tip of the spear to rewrite global infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That insight reframed everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. From the PayPal Mafia to the halls of MIT, Stanford, and Berkeley, to ex-NASA, ex-Apple, and DARPA researchers\u2014Tesla and SpaceX are magnet organisations for world-class talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tesla doesn\u2019t just attract smart people. It empowers them with impossible problems and extraordinary purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>b.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SpaceX as the Blueprint<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The successful execution of Starship (Block 3) and the Colossus-scale launch infrastructure this year cemented a belief in Musk\u2019s ability to solve hard engineering problems with first-principles thinking and ruthless execution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reusable rocket playbook is being mirrored at Tesla:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reuse. Recycle. Re-think.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vertical integration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Relentless cost reduction.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Software-defined everything.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>c.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tesla = The Energy Company<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tesla\u2019s mission isn\u2019t about electric cars. Cars are just a node.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. The Business Case<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2705 Vertically integrated margins<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tesla owns the entire stack: from battery chemistry to manufacturing lines to its custom chips for autonomous driving. This allows for a level of control, speed, and margin protection most automakers can\u2019t dream of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2705 Full-stack software advantage<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Full Self-Driving (FSD) may be controversial, but it\u2019s improving rapidly\u2014and the Dojo training supercomputer is a major moat. Like AWS was to Amazon, Dojo could be to Tesla: a multi-billion-dollar spin-out waiting to happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2705 Global energy arbitrage<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With Megapack + Autobidder + AI-enabled load balancing, Tesla is building the infrastructure to monetise time-shifted energy across deregulated electricity markets. Few investors grasp the scope of this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2705 Supply chain power<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tesla\u2019s move upstream into lithium, nickel, and battery processing was years ahead of the pack. It is now one of the few players with real resilience against resource bottlenecks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4. Risks and Watchpoints<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, no position is without risk. Here\u2019s what I monitor:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Execution risk across multiple product lines and regions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leadership concentration\u2014the company is still largely shaped by Musk\u2019s decisions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Regulatory pushback on autonomous driving, energy trading, or monopolistic behaviours<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reputational volatility, which can impact consumer trust and investor sentiment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>But these are known, manageable, and often overstated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tesla is not immune to macro pressures, but it is structurally antifragile\u2014emerging stronger after every market pullback or media controversy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>6. Tesla in My Portfolio<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tesla now occupies a tiered position across my G2 and G3 Funds:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In G2, it serves as a category leader with proven EBIT leverage, core innovations, and a 10-year roadmap.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In G3, it expresses my conviction in the next phase of human\u2013machine\u2013energy integration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As energy, transport, and AI converge\u2014Tesla is not just playing the game. It is rewriting the rules of the infrastructure economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Final Reflection<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tesla is not a speculative bet for me.
