But at its heart, it is the study of human behavior\u2014of decisions made under uncertainty. I advocate what I call the 5\u201310 Strategy, which is simple to remember but powerful in execution:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reduce inventory by 5\u201310%. Free up working capital and improve cash flow discipline.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Restructure headcount by 5\u201310%. Create lean, agile teams focused on your core value creation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pay down total debt by 5\u201310%. Fortify the balance sheet to create optionality when others are forced to sell.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This strategy is not about retrenchment for its own sake. It is about positioning\u2014engineering optionality\u2014so that when opportunities emerge, you have the freedom and capacity to act decisively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Contrarian Thinking: Tuning Out the Media Noise<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u2019s be blunt. The mainstream media\u2019s business model is not to tell you the truth\u2014it is to keep your eyeballs glued long enough to sell advertising. Their narratives are packaged in the clothing of partial truth but driven by attention, not insight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leading companies do not follow the media cycle; they lead with clarity of purpose, grounded in data, and insulated by disciplined planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Bigger Picture: Macro-to-Local Execution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is where my firm\u2019s unique strength lies: helping CEOs and CFOs connect the dots from global macro to local execution. The pathway looks like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Global Strategy: Understand where capital, technology, labor, and land are shifting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>National Policy: Decode regulatory winds that will create tailwinds\u2014or headwinds\u2014for your sector.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Local Tactics: Develop operational playbooks that turn strategy into profit.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I often say: If you don\u2019t understand what the plausible future looks like, how can you make decisions about the future?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now is the time to stress-test your 5-year strategy.
