The kitchen and dining facilities were essential to daily operations, resident wellbeing, and community service delivery \u2014 placing leadership directly in the role of decision\u2011makers carrying delivery, governance, and reputational risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strategic Objective <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The strategic objective was to enable Yalambie Court\u2019s leadership to deliver a <strong>fully compliant, modern commercial kitchen and dining environment<\/strong> that could support high\u2011volume meal production \u2014 while maintaining <strong>clarity, confidence, and control<\/strong> throughout delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Success was defined not only by the physical asset, but by decisions that were <strong>defensible, aligned, and operationally sound<\/strong> from day one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Challenge <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yalambie Court produces approximately <strong>&gt;1,000 meals per day<\/strong> for residents and for community meal services. The kitchen was mission\u2011critical infrastructure in constant use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leadership faced a familiar but high\u2011risk challenge:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Capital construction within a <strong>live hospice environment<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No tolerance for service disruption<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Multiple stakeholders with competing operational pressures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strict regulatory, fire safety, and compliance requirements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Early decisions with <strong>long\u2011term, irreversible consequences<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The problem was not capability \u2014 it was ensuring the <strong>right decisions were made, sequenced, and governed<\/strong> under pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scope of Works <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To address the challenge, the project was structured into <strong>three integrated workstreams<\/strong>, allowing leadership to make clear, staged decisions aligned to operational outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Commercial Kitchen Demolition and Reconstruction<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Partial demolition of the existing structure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Construction of a new floor plate to expand the kitchen footprint<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Full demolition and reconstruction of kitchen and storage areas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reconfiguration of internal layouts, including new and relocated doorways<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demolition of the existing servery and construction of a new servery with compliant fire separation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supply and installation of a new fire control system:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Suppressant gas system<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Water dowsing system<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Full commercial kitchen fit\u2011out<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New freezer, refrigerated, and dry storage facilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Dining Room Renovation<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete refurbishment of the existing dining room<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Staged works to maintain access, safety, and operational continuity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Access and Infrastructure Upgrades<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fire hydrant upgrades<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Electrical system upgrades<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improved access between the hospice, administration centre, dining room, kitchen, and storage areas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our Approach <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The role of the guide was to provide stability, regardless of the <strong>complexity<\/strong> of the Project, and ensure ongoing service provision at all times &#8211; seamlessly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Works were delivered in a <strong>live healthcare environment<\/strong>, requiring decisions that balanced construction progress with operational reality.
